COME AND SEE!

Sisters Anderson, Cotto, Holmgren, Glenn and Palmer

We had some wonderful and insightful experiences in a mission women´s conference, leadership training, and zone conferences this past month.  The sisters gathered together for the women´s conference to learn from each other.  A panel of senior sister missionaries answered questions that were written by the younger sister missionaries.

Sister Hermana Magdalena Parreño taught us about how to be a missionary at all times.  She said that she never wants to be an ex- missionary, because she always wants to be a missionary. Once her father took her out to dinner and invited two people to educate her about her bad decision to join the church.  She realized that even though she knew very little, she knew enough.  The spirit taught her that she knew everything she needed to know.

Sister Galli

In zone conference Sister Galli spoke about "The Love of God."  She said that pride is the universal sin, and it makes us not feel good about ourselves.  In Psalms 147:5 it states"Great is our Lord, and of great power." The first great commandment is to love God. Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved him.

The first teaching of the restoration is that God is our Father. Messengers of God brought down a power to restore the priesthood, it is a very real power.

Heavenly Father always keeps his promises! We have
received power from our ordinances and covenants.  Through the power of the Holy Ghost you can know the truth of all things.  In the temple we receive gifts and knowledge.  If we are unwilling to act, we will not get knowledge.  We lose it and forget it.  As we move forward we receive more and more knowledge.

Baptism is a gate that unlocks more knowledge, power and spiritual gifts.  Every time we separate ourselves from God we lose power.  The power of God is manifest in ordinances.  Some people mark themselves on the outside as not being followers of God.  Under our clothing are our reminders of what we are.  God´s prizes are: you can be with me and share in my joy!

President Galli spoke about having more faith, more diligence and a better understanding and use of challenges.  We need to invite friends to "come and see".  Our purpose is to invite people, not to convince or baptize, but to show them the path.  We invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and his atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end.

President Uchtdorf has taught that it is not your job to convert, that is the spirit´s job.  We are to live so that we are not unmotivated when we feel like a failure.  Our job is to always love God, and then our neighbors.  Invite them to come and see by extending invitations.  Our purpose is to have faith in Jesus Christ.
